Who will replace Tim Davie Betting Market.
The betting has opened on who who will replace Tim Davie as Director-General of the BBC Betting Market, in the wake of the Gary Lineker scandal.
Dame Carolyn McCall the chief executive of ITV is introduced as the warm favourite. McCall has been behind the drive to launch ITVX with the aim of enabling ITV to deliver a promised minimum $903 million worth of digital-only revenue by 2026. The chief executive of Channel 4 Alex Mahon, a master self-publicist, comes next in the betting. Charlotte Moore, the BBC's Chief Content Officer, who challenged Tim Davie for the job in 2020 (but who many feel lost out because she was not a Tory) comes next in the betting at 10/1. It is felt in some quarters that when Richard Sharp does resign, that the new Chairman of the BBC will want to wipe the slate clean and appoint somebody from outside the BBC: "It cannot be underestimated the extent of the reputational damage that the Lineker episode has brought about. Davie cannot survive, but is most unlikely that anybody sitting on the BBC Board is going to be replacing him."
